Have their been any religions/sects that worship Virgin Mary as the Mother Goddess?

Abrahamic religions as far as I can see have no female deity - even the Holy spirit is considered male. However the closest is probably the Virgin Mary. Yet in Roman times there were many Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Celtic Goddess who had wide followings and these people eventually converted to Christianity - for instance Diana, Athena, Isis and Brighid. I wonder if any sects or even separate religions evolved that ever treated the Virgin Mary as an actual Goddess - perhaps even to the point of placing her above Jesus?
